HSM OFFSHORE ENERGY POWERS UP DEMARKS' LARGEST WIND FARM PROJECT
Industry NewsHSM Offshore Energy has successfully completed the roll-out of the offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) and successfully lifted the GIS modules for RWE Renewables’ 1058MW Thor project at its Schiedam yard in the Netherlands.
Once operational, Thor will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm.
This offshore substation will serve as the central hub, collecting electricity from individual turbines and converting it to transmission-level voltage. The green electricity will then be transported through export cables to the onshore substation at Volder Søndervang.
HSM Offshore Energy is managing the full EPCIC scope for the offshore high-voltage substation and its jacket foundation.
The jacket and substation installation are set for 2025, with commissioning and testing planned for 2026. RWE Renewables will take over operations in Q4 of 2026.
Hans Leerdam, Commercial Director of HSM Offshore Energy, commented, "The successful roll-out of the THOR OHVS marks a significant milestone, underscoring HSM Offshore Energy’s dedication to advancing offshore renewable infrastructure."
"This project highlights the strength of our partnership with RWE Renewables, and we are proud to be working together to drive the sustainable energy transition."
"We are laying the foundation for Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm, a crucial step in Europe’s green energy transformation."
