Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will serve as the commercial lead for a multi-disciplinary delivery team, including Construction Managers, Designers, and Electrical Specialists. You will oversee the commercial lifecycle of survey, design, and installation workstreams, ensuring all projects remain financially viable and compliant with rigorous corporate governance. Key Responsibilities Commercial Management: Drive compliance with internal commercial processes, managing the end-to-end "Work in Progress" (WIP) cycle to maintain a sustainable pipeline. Contract Administration: Apply expert knowledge of NEC contract suites to manage change control, compensation events, and payment applications. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for clients; managing expectations, resolving escalations, and ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operational, Planning, and SHEQ teams to align commercial objectives with safety and delivery standards. Supply Chain Management: Oversee subcontractor procurement and account management, ensuring value for money and contractual compliance. Professional Requirements Experience: 5+ years in a Quantity Surveying role, specifically within the Civils or Utilities infrastructure sectors. Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel skills and experience utilizing enterprise accounting software (e.g., Oracle). Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety best practices within a construction environment. Soft Skills: Proven ability in high-level decision-making, time management, and building long-term strategic relationships.

Substation Project Engineer

Remote - United Kingdom

Substation Project Engineer Base Location: Home Based - Attendance on site/factory visits/office attendance = infrequent, less than 1 per month if at all. Working Pattern: Full Time (40 hours per week) Length of contract: 6 months Essential Qualifications/skill set required: -          Candidates must be degree qualified electrical engineers to be considered for this role. -          Previous Transmission experience required. -          A minimum of 3+ Years substation project engineer experience up to 400kV -          Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance. -          Proficiency in project management -          Strong understanding of health and safety regulations -          Ideal candidate UK Transmission Experience Previous experience with SSE, Grid or Scottish Power highly desirable Primary Design experience Experience in reviewing design deliverables and substation layouts. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: -          Creating outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and Single Line Diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV. -          Reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing. -          Implementing safety by design principles to ensure that engineering and safety risks are adequately controlled. -          Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to Network security. -          Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants

Contracts Manager

Contracts Manager Base Location: Flexible working – Typically 50% of time in office or at site (Scotland based) Working Pattern: Full Time (40 hours per week) Length of contract: 12 months The role An exciting opportunity has arisen for Contract Managers to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team. Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post contract procurement and commercial support to some the largest projects within the business. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the project portfolio and contribute to the continued growth of this area of the business. This role would someone from a Quantity Surveying background with experience working either Client or Contractor side, no specific experience working in Energy sector is required but would be advantageous   You will -          Support P&C Manager / Senior CM in negotiating contract T&C’s for projects of significant value (from £50M to £500M) and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase. -          Negotiate contract prices and ensure all contract prices can be substantiated and provide value for money to consumers. -          Have extensive demonstrable stakeholder engagement and management skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes together with problem solving. -          Be involved in cost and forecast management via regular cost reporting and ensuring change management procedures are adhered to, payment and expenditure management, Cost estimating. -          Provide robust post contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives including negotiating/agreeing compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented. -          Comply with all safety policies and procedures, promote safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.   You have -          A Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification and ideally have or be working towards professional membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES. -          Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration -          Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts together with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements. Experience of working with NEC.
