Electrical Engineer - Operations

Reporting to the Operational Lead Engineer, the Electrical Operations Engineer role is to ensure that the company derives the full market value from its operational renewable assets by providing technical support and governance. While primarily focussed on the operational assets the Operational Electrical Engineer will also be required to provide support across all pillars of the business as part of the central engineering function – R & D, Development, Construction, Operation and Decommissioning Responsibilities Supporting the implementation of the long-term maintenance policy for all renewable assets, co-ordinating all Electrical technical non-conformance investigations and incident investigations, reviewing new asset modifications. Managing fleet wide or strategic Electrical technical risks, delivery of field support and improvement projects, supporting the R & D teams in the development of new technologies and supporting the construction and development teams with technical due diligence. Support the Asset Management team in ensuring that any technical incident investigations, site technical non-conformances, and change control are effectively managed through to completion. Make recommendations to the Asset Management team for the required implementation of any potential mitigation or improvement works. Carry out investigation of technical issues that may be affecting asset availability and generation and provide recommendations to the Asset Management team. Assist in the management of the operational risk register and support Asset Managers to identify any key site engineering risks and any appropriate mitigation measures. Assist the Asset Management team with the support of the operational lead engineer to develop, implement and review suitable contingency plans for unplanned major events on key assets. Assist the Asset Managers in the assessment of O&M contractor performance. Assist the operational lead engineer to develop and manage fleet wide strategic spares strategies. Support the management of change process and be a key technical assessor of any relevant proposed modifications. Support the Asset Management team in the implementation of short-term technical trials or improvement programmes. Carry out technical due diligence on any asset improvement programmes and condition-based monitoring systems on renewable assets. Define and review technical scopes for any required specialist engineering support on renewable assets. Interface, with the support of the operational lead engineer, with companies and technical design authorities within the industry to obtain the necessary specialist engineering support to resolve technical issues or provide specialist instruction for inspection and maintenance activities. Ensure technical records are kept up to date and collate a technical issue database to assist with engineering problem solving and recording of lessons learnt for future asset developments or improvements. Support the Asset Managers with the scope and site-based inspections of End of Warranty Inspection programmes. Support the operational lead engineer in standardisation and development of operational procedures. Provide technical support in the development of O&M and interface agreements. Deliver improvement projects to operational renewable assets Share lessons learned and operation experience within the business, and where necessary to the wider industry. Support the Development and Construction teams in technical due diligence and field quality assurance on new projects Requirements Qualifications and Experience HNC in Electrical Engineering or be working towards and Electrical Engineering degree High level Health and Safety Qualification Demonstrable experience as an Operational Electrical engineer Strong engineering and technical experience in the renewable industry or similar Demonstrable experience of managing technical issues or improvement projects Ability to effectively manage and record change control on operational assets. The Head of External Relations has responsibility for the communities, communications, lobbying, stakeholder engagement and policy work of the company. Role Responsibilities: Support the Business through policy and stakeholder engagement and management to achieve it’s objectives. To effectively lead the CER Team providing direction and support to the team, including positively developing team members and ensuring the working environment is respectful, productive, positive and supportive. As part of the MEL Leadership team, help maintain high standards within the business and help deliver ongoing business improvement, appropriate to MEL’s position as a developer and employer of choice. Lead on developing the overall company brand and reputation with industry, government and the public, ensuring the MEL brand is known as a knowledgeable and trusted developer Lead on the development of the company position on government policy and a consistent company voice in policy consultations, including engagement with working groups industry representatives and governmental bodies, including agencies. Our client are currently looking for a new colleague to join the Engineering Office of their team, where they’ll be leading the technical support to teams developing and delivering utility-scale wind projects across the Baltic countries and Poland. Locations Include: Lithuania, Poland, or Estonia Key Responsibilities Preparing technical requirements and specifications for the WTG tendering procedures Reviewing the technical documentation produced from WTG supplier and identifying any technical issues or risks Supporting wind farm layout design, energy yield and design optimisation Contributing to due diligence of potential wind farm site acquisitions Supporting wind turbine construction, commissioning and performance testing Following renewable energy (wind) industry trends/innovations and applying the knowledge in the daily activity.
