Onshore Wind Procurement Manager

Our client is looking for an Onshore Wind Procurement Manager to lead sourcing and procurement activities for utility-scale onshore wind projects in Japan. This role will play a key part in supporting project development and execution, driving procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and leading commercial negotiations throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for utility-scale onshore wind projects.
  • Lead sourcing activities for wind turbines, balance of plant (BoP), and related services.
  • Support wind turbine selection, technical evaluations, and project due diligence.
  • Manage the full tendering process, including RFQ/RFP preparation, supplier prequalification, bid evaluation, and commercial assessment.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and contract execution with OEMs, EPC contractors, and key suppliers.
  • Manage and administer major project agreements, including EPC-related contracts, logistics agreements, and long-term service arrangements.
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Engineering, EPC, Legal, Finance, and Project Management teams to ensure procurement activities align with project milestones.
  • Support financing processes by providing procurement inputs for lender and technical due diligence.
  • Establish procurement strategies and O&M supply arrangements prior to project handover.
  • Identify procurement risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance through appropriate NDA execution and supplier governance.


About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience within the renewable energy sector, with direct experience in onshore wind projects.
  • Mandatory experience managing procurement and tendering processes for onshore wind developments or EPC projects.
  • Strong track record of supplier sourcing, strategic procurement, and vendor management.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex commercial contracts with OEMs, EPC contractors, and key suppliers.
  • Solid understanding of project procurement, cost optimization, and contract administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Business-level English is required. Japanese is highly preferred, while Chinese language skills would be considered an advantage.
