Quality Inspector – Mechanical / Piping

SCC / VCA required - €700–750 / day - Until 2027 - Freelance


About the project

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector for a landmark EPC project in Northern Germany, a critical piece of infrastructure for Germany's long-term energy supply and security.

The project is a major civil and mechanical construction undertaking with a total value in one billion EUR. Project duration runs to the end of 2027, with an initial contract of 12 months and strong prospects for extension.


Your responsibilities

  • Technical quality assurance in the coating and welding scope of a large-scale EPC project
  • Conducting on-site inspections, audits, and non-conformity management (NCRs)
  • Implementing and tracking Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for mechanical scopes
  • Ensuring all works align with P&IDs, Isometric drawings, and the Project Execution Plan
  • Leading and witnessing Hydrostatic and Pneumatic pressure tests, ensuring the mechanical integrity of piping loops before system handover
  • Supporting final documentation and dossier preparation
  • Driving continuous improvement through lessons learned and CAPA processes
  • KPI tracking


Must-haves

  • SCC / VCA certification — mandatory
  • Proven QA/QC experience in mechanical and welding on large industrial or energy projects (e.g. refineries, heavy steel construction, power plants)
  • Hands-on experience with ITPs, audits, and NCR management
  • Strong quality documentation and reporting skills, including KPI tracking
  • Familiarity with international standards and EPC project environments
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)
