Resident Engineer

Our client is seeking a Resident Engineer who will provide support to the PM and will have day-to-day responsibility for monitoring the project on site on behalf of the PM.  The RE will submit a weekly written report to the PM (format to be agreed). There will be a requirement to attend the all project update meetings required to complete the scope of work. Key ResponsibilitiesAlerting the PM to any perceived risks as they arise e.g. Early Warning.Assessing and auditing Contractor’s documentation – e.g., CDM Construction Phase Plan, Quality Assurance & Inspection Test Audit Plan , Construction Environmental Management Plan, RAMS, Emergency Procedures, etc to include period review and highlighting any non-conformance to the PM.Reviewing drawings and advising the PM of any issues.Keep weather, road condition and works undertaken records on a daily basis and in sufficient detail to deal with the requirements of the contract in regard to extraordinary adverse weather and other delays. Daily log to be issued to the PM in agreed format. Photographic records are to be taken to assist with record keepingCoordinate with third party contractors who are working on site.The interface with the Principal Contractor will also need to be carefully coordinated. Responsible forLiaison with Contractors and Inspection of Working AreasControl of design queries through RFI’sHealth and Safety Walk-Over’s and inspectionsCommunication with on-site personnel and witnessing of inspection and testing Requirements Must have SMSTS or equivalent safety qualificationConstruction experience – preferably on shore wind farms – on environmentally sensitive sites.Preferably civil engineering background but familiar with electrical and mechanical installations.Familiar with CDM requirements and ideally with NEC forms of contract.Must have experience in dealing with landowners, the Transmission Operator / Distribution Network Operator, Planning Enforcement Officers, consultants, third party contractors, regulators etc. Deliverables Daily progress reports for the entirety of the project in a format agreed with the PM.Minutes of monthly progress meetings and daily / weekly site co-ordination meetings.Complete RFI register for the project.Complete inspection and test record for the project, including inspections carried out by the RE, and in line with the agreed Inspection and Test Plans.Record of design changes and final as built drawings and O&M manuals for the CDM Health and Safety file.Reports for Health, Safety and Environmental inspections.Register of Health Safety and Environmental incidents.
