Performance Analyst - Onshore Renewables

LSP Renewables have partnered with a leading asset management business who provide specialised asset management services for renewable energy investments across the UK and Europe, to recruit a Asset Performance Analyst in the UK or Ireland. The role can be based remotely anywhere in the UK or Ireland, and will be required in the Warrington office 4-5 times per year. 

Our client oversee the entire lifecycle of solar and wind projects from acquisition and development to construction, financing, operation, and divestment, optimising project performance and maximising investor returns. The successful candidate will manage the daily and long term performance of utility scale Solar PV and Onshore Wind assets across the UK and Ireland, managing all sites within the companies portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Managing all sites within the Company’s portfolio ensuring that they are being effectively operated in order to optimise these assets in accordance with contractual, technical, environmental and budgetary requirements.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on turbine and fleet performance using SCADA information primarily using second level SCADA systems, to measure solar/wind availability and deliver performance data to identify key technical risks (availability, downtime and fault analysis) to support decision making within the business.
  • Responsible for developing and collating weekly performance reports
  • Responsible for the management and development of Power BI for the business
  • Identify fleet under performance and liaise with the wider team to implement an action plan to resolve.
  • Develop, manage and maintain an Asset Management Database for the operational fleet.
  • Reporting on operational performance and providing detailed analysis and explanation to the Line Manager and Senior management. Deliver operational performance reports to meet the requirements of company.
  • Identify and implement new performance assessment tools and systems to ensure optimal quality and validity of data analysis.
  • Carry out technical cost/benefit analysis and prepare business cases for presentation to management.
  • Key role in developing systems and procedures for the operation and performance optimisation of the wind and solar farm. Liaise with software providers to develop and deploy data analysis to further enhance the efficient reporting and measuring of technical issues to provide corrective and pro-active actions to drive performance of the portfolio.
  • Support the business to ensure a smooth and effective transition from the development/ construction phase to the operating phase of newly developed wind assets through working closely and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating with relevant professional societies.
  • Responsible point of contact for wind and solar farm IT issues liaising with communications outages which impact SCADA level 2 platform
  • Responsible for developing reporting templates and benchmarking for technical performance of the wind and solar farm assets.
  • Overall responsibility for managing SCADA systems, developing procedures and attending training sessions to continually improve technical knowledge
  • Attend OEM meetings and present data analysis when required.
  • Establishing, enforcing and exemplifying all aspects of the company’s HSQE policies.
  • Prepared to travel within UK and overseas when required.


Requirements

  • Degree educated in and Engineering or Science related discipline
  • 2-3 years experience of wind and solar power operations/asset management.
  • Knowledge of optimisation of wind turbine and solar performance parameters.
  • Experience of SCADA and communication systems.
  • Development of condition monitoring systems and/or analysis is an advantage.
  • Significant aptitude and comfort in analysing, interpreting and manipulating large blocks of data.
  • IT skills with a high level of Microsoft Excel/ Office along with the ability to learn new and bespoke software packages.
  • Competent in programming, writing and maintaining scripts in Python, knowledge of openpyxl, pdfminer, Elementtree modules or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of wind turbine and solar farm components.
  • Experience in data analytics with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
