Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Balance of Plant (BoP) Technician to join their team for an offshore wind farm project currently in the construction phase. The BoP Technician will be responsible for supporting installation, inspection, and maintenance of BoP systems, including on/offshore substations, cables, and foundations and etc. The role requires hands-on technical expertise and a thorough understanding of offshore operations, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational readiness for the wind farm’s infrastructure.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of Balance of Plant components, including electrical substations, inter-array cables, export cables, foundations, and supporting structures.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure all BoP components meet quality and safety standards.
  • Identify potential issues and collaborate with engineering and construction teams to resolve them efficiently.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with BoP systems during the construction phase. Perform repairs, adjustments, and calibrations as necessary to maintain optimal functionality of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Generate daily progress reports, identify potential delays, and escalate issues to the BoP Supervisor as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including offshore safety standards, confined space entry, and high-voltage safety procedures.
  • Participate in safety drills and ensure personal compliance with Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) guidelines.
  • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure BoP systems are installed and operational within the project timeline. Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement based on field observations.
Requirements
  • Technical diploma or certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience in offshore construction projects.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in offshore or renewable energy projects, with a focus on BoP systems in the wind, oil and gas, or maritime industries.
  • Prior experience working with offshore substations, inter-array cables, and high-voltage equipment preferred.
  • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage systems, offshore electrical safety, and cable handling practices.
Certifications:
  • Offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET, GWO Basic Safety Training) required.
  • High-voltage training or certification (desirable).
  • Valid medical certificate for offshore work. (OGUK)
