 Our client is seeking a Geotechnical Manager who will examine the geotechnical risks and will establish the parameters for the design of offshore wind structures. They will also perform complex conceptual examinations of the foundation installation and identify & quantify risks. The role will also provide key commercial support in relation to allocation, management & deliverables of contracts.
 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate, define and execute soil investigation campaigns.
  • Run requests for proposals, assess offers and select preferred subcontractors for soil conditions measurement devices in compliance with the budget and in connection with the commercial team.
  • In coordination with the Balance of Plant Manager, ensure that the soil investigation campaigns are compliant with the needs in terms of substructures design and certification.
  • Analyse geophysical and geotechnical studies undertaken for the project.
  • Support the wind turbine and floater selection activities, including the engagement with the substructure’s contractors, such as mooring and anchoring systems suppliers.
  • Participate in engineering and design due diligences and monitor the work carried out by the project’s advisor on soil assessment during any relevant process, such as the participation in energy auctions or the Financial Close of the projects.
  • In connection with the Wind and Metocean Assessment Manager, prepare Site Conditions Reports for the Basis of Design of the projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate works with technical contractors who are supporting our soil investigation activities in different markets.
  • Write reports, applications, memos, etc. with different degrees on technical content required in our project development activities.
 
Requirements
  • Strong geotechnical engineering background related to fixed subsea substructures and anchor substructures.
  • Experience in offshore wind across early-stage project development.
  • Experience of working in different consortia and multicultural environment will be viewed favourably.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to others in an accessible manner.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Power Point and Word;
  • familiarity with design programs and database systems are advantages.
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis, especially within the UK.
